What is Occupational Therapy (OT)?
I.am Therapy Services Inc. OTs are registered with the Canadian Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO). As a result adheres to Code of Ethics, Competencies, Standards of Practice, and Insurance to "uphold the integrity of the profession, serve the interests of patients, and act in a manner that justifies public trust".

Why I.am Therapy Services Inc. came to be?
I.am Therapy Services was developed to ensure personalized care in your time of need. Client/Family focused services will help build the knowledge, abilities and confidence to get back to "normal" or even better... establishing the new, better "normal".
Maturing adults experiencing changes in health status can benefit from an OT home assessment to identify accessibility issues , potential options and trial equipment to maximize independence and ensure a safe work environment for community health staff such as Home Care nurses and personal support workers.
A consultation can help prepare having a loved one return home after a hospital stay or progression of a medical condition.
Treatment can include regular sessions to work on goals such as maintaining or increasing ability to actively participate in daily tasks, and develop skill areas.
Former clients of children's treatment centre's (CTC) will often feel lost in the world of "Adult Services". A CTC has all of the therapy services and specialty clinics all under one roof. Although at a CTC they try to prepare families, it feels all too real after being discharged from a full service agency.
Mature clients can be referred to Adult Seating Clinics to address complex needs, however the wait times can be significant and locations inconvenient.
Community funded ADP Authorizers are available, however may not have the experience and understanding of congenital diagnoses to ensure the appropriate equipment is offered.
As a result, I.am Therapy Services Inc. was established to provide OT and Seating Clinic services to this population of individuals.
Client Highlight: Ryan B.
Ryan is an independent, dynamic adult working full time where he uses his wheelchair daily on accessible public transportation. He is also a energetic and dedicated para-athlete who trains hard and attends tournaments held at large facilities and campuses. Ryan's well loved wheelchair was getting worn out and he did not know how to find help. He needed an ADP Authorizer to access government funding for a new wheelchair. Ryan was open to meeting with a private OT that was also an ADP Authorizer to discuss his equipment needs.

“As a person living with cerebral palsy, I have had to rely on different mobility aids such as a Kay walker, forearm crutches and a wheelchair mostly for longer distances. I’m very appreciative for these mobility aids, but just as much as the rehabilitation therapists like Angie who help with sizing and notifying the users of the equipment and options available and suitable.
In my 35 years of life, I can definitely say that my current wheelchair is the best one I’ve been in thanks to Angie’s expertise and understanding of my needs! I couldn’t be happier!”
